Key contributions by the critical friends
Critical friends support CAMEL cohorts in several important ways, in particular:
- Working out their motivations for engaging with each other e.g.
- Learning from other projects.
- Peer critique of their own projects.
- Joint papers/outputs.
- Access to expertise.
- Exchange and development of ideas.
- Mutual support and encouragement.
- Critical friends should be pro-active in facilitating CAMEL cohorts, but ensuring that ownership is taken by the projects.
- Critical friends should support CAMEL cohorts in identifying CAMEL themes of engagement together with theme goals, activities and collaborative outputs.
- Critical friends should champion the cohort to other networks and areas.
- Critical friends should model effective CAMEL practices.
